Rally Held Against Vaccine Mandate As COVID-19 Cases Spike in Shasta County

Shasta County Public Health is sounding the alarm about increasing Covid cases. 132 new cases were reported between August 6th and 8th, and a man in his 70s has died. The Delta Variant is spreading quickly among the unvaccinated population. Shasta County has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the state. Testing is done at the Boggs Building on Breslauer Monday through Friday from 9:30AM to 5:30PM. A vaccine clinic is open at the Redding Senior Center on Benton Drive each Friday through Sunday from 10AM to 7PM, with other options available at myturn.ca.gov.

On Monday a number of anti-vaccination and anti-mask protesters gathered outside Mercy Medical Center with signs objecting to the announcement that the state will require all healthcare workers to be vaccinated.
