A 3-year-old boy was killed in a crash Sunday night on a remote road between Big Bend and Iron Canyon Reservoir. 30-year-old Sara Stewart of big Bend was driving eastbound on Forest Route 11 at about 8:20PM when she lost control of a 2005 Scion while coming around a corner. The CHP says she made an unsafe turn, and the car veered off the south side of the road and crashed about 60 feet down an embankment. The vehicle rolled over several times and the 3-year-old was ejected and died from blunt force trauma. Neither Stewart nor the child were strapped in, according to the CHP. Stewart was taken to Mercy Hospital with complaints of neck and back pain. The CHP says she was arrested, but didn’t release any information on her charges.
