Coroner ID’s Motorcyclist Killed In Crash On Highway 44

A motorcyclist who died after falling from Highway 44 Sunday afternoon has been identified as 60-year-old Joseph Preston Jones. The Shasta County Coroner’s Office says Jones was from Savannah, Georgia and his family has been notified. Jones was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson westbound on Highway 44 approaching Downtown Redding when, for unknown reasons, he lost control. The bike hit the guardrail at the Continental Street underpass and Jones was ejected, flying over the railing and landing on the street below. He was declared dead at the scene.
