Vaccine Distribution Ramps Up, 2 More COVID Deaths Reported In Shasta County

Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported by Shasta County from Friday and Saturday. They were a man in his 70s and a woman over the age of 89. The death toll is now 199. Another 33 cases were reported from those two days, along with 1,228 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 11,179. An estimated 107 people have the virus right now, 7 of them hospitalized and 1 in intensive care.

Students in California classrooms can sit 3 feet apart instead of 6 under new guidelines adopted by the state as school officials figure out how to reopen campuses closed for a year. Local leaders will have the final say on distancing.

California’s plan to centralize vaccine delivery, tracking and appointment making is taking shape. Blue Shield is expected to take full administrative control on March 31st.

Tehama County has reported 5,237 cases and 54 deaths.
There have been 385 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,853 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 15 deaths.
Butte County has reported 173 deaths among their 10,997 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,036 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,598 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,433 cases and 36 deaths.
Modoc County has had 469 cases and 4 deaths.
