The latest member of the Shasta Lake City Council hasn’t exactly been hiding in cave. 45-year-old Matt Doyle is the Manager of Lake Shasta Caverns. He was chosen unanimously on Tuesday to fill a vacancy on the council following the death of longtime Councilman Larry Farr, who died at the age of 84 in January from injuries suffered in a traffic collision. Doyle has managed the caverns since 2003 and he’s the President of the Shasta Lake Business Owners Association and Vice President of the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland Association. He was chosen from a field of 10 candidates who interviewed for the seat.
