As New COVID-19 Cases Decline, Overall Cases Near 11,000 In Shasta County

Shasta County’s Coronavirus numbers continue to decline. 174 residents have been killed by the virus. Another 25 cases have been confirmed, as well as 797 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 10,969. An estimated 143 people have the virus right now, 20 of them hospitalized and 2 in intensive care.

Tehama County has reported 5,081 cases and 52 deaths.
There have been 367 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,740 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 14 deaths.
Butte County has reported 160 deaths among their 10,711 cases.
Lassen County has had 17 deaths among their 2,027 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,574 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,160 cases and 33 deaths.
Modoc County has had 453 cases and 4 deaths.

California’s Governor is pushing to reopen more schools for in-class instruction. Last week he announced that at least 10% of the state’s vaccine supply would go to education workers. The majority of the state’s 6 million K-12 public school students have not been inside a classroom since last March 2020.

Production and delivery of vaccines are increasing substantially this week, according to pharmaceutical companies and the federal government. U.S. regulators are allowing Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to be shipped and stored at less-frigid temperatures, which should ease distribution and administration of one of the two vaccines authorized for emergency use in the country.
