Redding Police, with funding from the State Alcoholic Beverage Control Agency, did a series of underage alcohol stings Friday afternoon. It was a “Shoulder Tap” operation, which involves having the underage person approach customers on their way in to stores and ask them to make a purchase, making clear to the target that it’s because of age. Four people were cited for agreeing to make the purchase. The penalty is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours community service. Police did not say how many people turned down the decoy’s request.
