A prisoner was shot by a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputy on Friday. Just before Noon, a correctional deputy had brought the man to be medically cleared at Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka. When it was time to go back to jail and the inmate was being placed in the back seat of the police car, he reportedly attacked the female deputy and tried to get her gun away from her. During the struggle the prisoner was shot. After several hours of treatment in an operating room, the inmate was pronounced dead.
