9AM Tuesday: COVID Claims 3 More Lives In Shasta County

Three more deaths by Covid have been reported in Shasta County from Friday and Saturday, for a total of 145. The latest were a man in his 70’s and 2 men over age 89. Another 105 cases were reported from those two days, as well as 1,792 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 10,438. An estimated 274 people have the virus right now, 26 of them hospitalized and 2 in intensive care. The regional ICU capacity is 47.9%.

Tehama County has reported 4,781 cases and 47 deaths.
There have been 308 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,558 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 13 deaths.
Butte County has reported 142 deaths among their 10,083 cases.
Lassen County has had 14 deaths among their 1,937 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,456 cases in prison.
Glenn County has had 2,016 cases and 23 deaths.
Humboldt County has had 2,815 cases and 30 deaths.
Modoc County has had 411 cases and 4 deaths.

For now, Shasta County is vaccinating healthcare workers and people aged 75 and older. Supplies are still very limited. Those who wish to be vaccinated should go to shastaready.org and click on “Tell Me When It’s My Turn” or call 245-7890. Public health will then call to make an appointment. Another mass vaccination clinic is in the works.

California Coronavirus death toll has topped 40,000 even as the rates of new infections and hospitalizations continue to fall. The state said Sunday that the number of people in the hospital with COVID-19 has dropped more than 25% in two weeks.
