RPD: Felons Found With Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop

Redding Police say drugs and some serious firepower were recovered Tuesday night after a driver failed to stop for a stop sign. 37-year-old James Muck was at the wheel, with 35-year-old Timothy Parker as a passenger. When the officer found out Parker is on post release supervision for vehicle theft, he decided to search the vehicle. He reportedly found a loaded semi-automatic SKS assault rifle as well as a loaded 9 millimeter semi-auto handgun under the passenger seat. The rifle had its serial number scraped off and the handgun had been reported stolen. Both men are convicted felons and therefore prohibited from possessing guns. Both men were arrested. Before being booked, Muck reportedly told officers that he had about an ounce of Methamphetamine hidden in his underwear.
