3:30PM Friday: New Deaths In Shasta And Tehama Counties

A day after adding 87 new cases of COVID-19, Shasta County saw another with a large number of news cases. 77 cases new cases were reported Friday for a total of 2,452. A woman in her 60’s has died from the virus bringing the total to 34. The new cases include 46 women and 31 men. There are currently 18 people hospitalized and 3 are in intensive care. 112 active cases are reported in the county and 374 people are quarantined due to possible exposure.

15% of the county’s positive cases in the past week have been people who were already quarantined due to possible exposure.

Public health says Shasta County’s purple tier restrictions go into effect at Midnight Saturday. State agencies will likely take a more aggressive enforcement role now that the county has entered the most severe level of restrictions. Shasta County must remain in the purple tier for at least 3 weeks and must show red tier numbers for two consecutive weeks before restrictions will ease.

Tehama County has topped 1000 cases with 1,008. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 17. Trinity County has had 41. Butte County has had 3,225 cases and 54 deaths. Glenn County has had 716 cases and 3 deaths. There have been 287 cases in Siskiyou County and 586 in Humboldt County with 9 deaths. Modoc County is up to 68 cases. Lassen County has had one death among their 135 cases in the community and 642 in prison.
