PG&E has triggered a public safety power shutoff. The utility cut electricity starting at 6 O’clock Wednesday night. By the time the third wave of shutoffs occurs Thursday afternoon, about 50,000 PG&E customers will be affected, including 4,700 in Shasta County, 1,230 in Tehama County, 180 in Trinity County and 11,400 in Butte County. PG&E plans to have all customers restored by 10 O’clock Friday night as long as post-event inspections don’t reveal any damage.
