The August Lightning Complex held within its perimeter Tuesday. The largest fire in California history is still 1,029,000 acres. Overall containment is at 76% along hundreds of miles of control line. The complex is burning in six counties, including the far southwestern corner of Shasta County. Damage assessment crews in Southern Trinity County have confirmed 552 structures lost, but survivors still await a federal disaster declaration that will allow FEMA and SBA assistance. That number will increase, as many areas are still not accessible.
