More Zogg Fire Evacuation Orders Lifted, As Crews Report 203 Structures Destroyed

Great progress is being made on containment of the Zogg Fire, estimated at 76%. There has been very little growth on the fire over the weekend, now covering 56,305 acres. As damage assessment continues, the count of destroyed structures has increased to 203, with 27 damaged. Only 63 structures remain threatened, down from 1,500 a few days ago. There have been 4 civilian fatalities and 2 inmate firefighter injuries.

Many additional evacuation orders have been lifted Monday, including South Fork Road and side roads. Evacuations are also lifted for Duncan Creek Road, Bully Choop, Old Bully Choop, Buell Road and all side roads. Rainbow Lake Road is open as far as Sunny Hill Road but Sunny Hill and all roads to the west are still under mandatory evacuation. Zogg Mine Road and all side roads remain under mandatory evacuation. With the exceptions of Platina and Placer, traffic on the other roads mentioned is for residents only with identification and proof of residency required. There are still nearly 1,800 personnel working the Zogg Fire.

Shasta Elementary School reopens Monday. Igo school is still closed for an indefinite period of time. Whiskeytown Lake has reopened as it is no longer being used as a water source for firefighting.
