Bella Vista Man Faces Charges After Alleged Sexual Assaults On Minors

A Bella Vista man was arrested on Friday for the alleged sexual assault of two minors. September 22nd the Shasta County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit was advised of a possible sexual assault that occurred between 2016 and 2018. The victim was removed from the home after the allegation came to light. Detectives learned that 43-year-old Gabriel Bartholomew Peterson had left a vague suicide note at his home, and he apparently had went to Southern Oregon armed with a handgun. Detectives spoke to several witnesses and identified a 2nd victim. Both victims reported that Peterson had sexually assaulted them. An arrest warrant was issued on Friday and Peterson was arrested during a traffic stop by Redding Police. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail and is being held without bail.
