2 Area High Schools Report Positive COVID Cases

Two Shasta County high schools have reported students with positive COVID-19 tests, but they’re taking completely different approaches to the issue. Foothill High School in Palo Cedro and U-Prep in Redding both reported positive tests. U-Prep will switch to distance learning until October 5th, and they’ll provide Chromebooks to students for use at home. School officials will try to track down students who have been in close contact with the COVID-positive student, and they’ll be placed on quarantine for 14 days. Foothill, on the other hand, will continue with in-person instruction, saying less than five people were confirmed as having close personal contact with the student, and they’ve been asked to stay home. The COVID-positive Foothill student had last been at school on September 17th.
