A car tumbled hundreds of feet into the Trinity River, and authorities are trying to figure out how to recover the car and whoever may be inside. Sunday morning a passing driver noticed fresh tire marks that led off the roadway near Hawkins Bar, and flagged down a sheriff’s deputy, who notified the CHP. Hawkins Bar fire personnel repelled down the bank to reach the vehicle. A diver went into the river and could confirm one deceased person in the 2007 Mazda, but could not get inside to determine the gender of the driver or if there were any passengers.
