A window-breaking vandalism suspect is accused of assaulting Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies after being arrested. At 6:45AM Thursday morning deputies responded to reports of a man with a metal stake breaking windows at the Lion’s Club on Shasta Dam Boulevard, as well as at a church. People flagged down the deputies and directed them to the Dollar Tree parking lot, where they met 20-year-old Nathan Osterday. The metal stake was on the ground nearby. He reportedly accepted responsibility for the window breaking spree. It was later found that windows were broken at five different businesses, as well as a county vehicle, and a City of Shasta Lake vehicle the previous evening. When Osterday was placed into the back seat of a patrol car, he allegedly spit in a deputies face. When he arrived at the jail Osterday reportedly punched a correctional deputy in the face.
