Anderson Police K9 Retires

Anderson Police and the people of Anderson have always believed in Aero the K9. He joined the force in 2013 and quickly made his mark as a patrol and drug detection canine. He’s helped apprehend more than one hundred suspects and has helped seize over 500 pounds of Marijuana, 25 pounds of Methamphetamine, and 15 pounds of Heroin, as well as Cocaine and Ecstasy. He also led police to more than a quarter million dollars in drug proceeds, including $95,000 last week. Halfway through his career, Aero had a life threatening medical condition but the community rallied to pay for costly treatments at U.C. Davis and Aero returned to duty within a year. Now it’s time for Aero’s 7 year career to come to a close. A retirement ceremony will be held during the Anderson City Council meeting next Tuesday evening. Aero will live out his days with his handler, Officer Mike Hallagan.
