A South Redding home was heavily damaged by fire overnight on the same small street where a vacant home went up in flames on Monday. At around 2AM Redding Fire Department responded to Concord Lane between Cedars Road and Westside Road. They found heavy smoke coming from a small house. The fire was held to a bedroom but smoke damage permeated the entire house. The 4 people living there were able to get out, but one of them was transported to a hospital with smoke inhalation. A pet cat died inside the house. Damage is estimated at $20,000 for the structure and another $4,000 worth of contents. The cause is under investigation.
