A firefighter who died while fighting the Tatham Fire in the August Lightning Fire Complex was a woman from Texas. 63-year-old Diana Jones was an EMT and a Captain with the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department. She was working wildland fires over the last few Summers with her son, Ian Shelly. She died on Monday when the truck she was assigned to was being re-positioned. Jones was a former hairdresser who retired 5 years ago and went into firefighting, according to Fox 4 News out of Fort Worth, which is near Jones’ home of Cresson in North Texas.
