Two people were killed in an airplane crash near Benton Airpark in West Redding. The crash happened about 10 minutes before 7 O’clock Thursday morning as the single engine Beechcraft Bonanza was taking off with 4 adults on board. The plane it went down in a canyon area just to the north of the runway across Placer Street, and sparked a brush fire, which Redding Firefighters held to less than an acre. Two victims were badly burned and Redding Police have confirmed that the remains of the other two people were found inside the plane. No names have been officially released but a lot of social media buzz has identified one of the deceased. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
