K9 Help Deputies Arrest Stabbing Suspect In Whitmore

A Whitmore man held deputies in a standoff following a reported stabbing Saturday evening. A little before 6 O’clock deputies were called to Whitmore Trailer Park on a report that 59-year-old Edward Carlton Sligar Jr had stabbed fellow tenant 60-year-old William McGrew in the arm. When deputies got there, Sligar ran inside his home. He came back out after a few minutes but would not follow instructions or move away from his doorway. When he started reaching for his waistband, Fritz the K-9 was set loose on him and took him down. McGrew declined treatment for the minor lacerations on his arm. Sligar was taken to a hospital for his dogbites. He faces several felony charges.
