Platina Residents Urged To Prepare For Possible Evacuations

Evacuation warnings have been issued for the Community of Platina. The threat is from the multiple fires that are being managed as the Tehama/Glenn Lightning Complex. The Tehama Zone includes a number of fires in the Mendocino National Forest, as well as the 18,000 acre Elkhorn Fire, previously called the 3-4 Fire, that started Wednesday in Western Tehama County southwest of Red Bank Road. The Glenn Zone includes the Ivory Fire. Altogether the complex of fires has burned 30,000 acres with only 10% overall containment. Around 1,500 structures are threatened, most of them homes. There are wide areas under evacuation warnings or orders. The Platina warning comes based on the lack of containment and lack of resources, with personnel and aircraft stretched very thin statewide. Residents of Platina should be ready to go at a moments notice. It’s not too late to sign up for Code Red alerts.
