Man & Woman In Critical Condition After Murder/Suicide Attempt

A Red Bluff woman was stabbed in what Red Bluff Police are calling an attempted murder/suicide. At 7:15PM Thursday night officers were called to a stabbing on Franzel Road and simultaneously to a crash on South Jackson Street at Vista Way. What they pieced together is that a 50-year-old man stabbed his 51-year-old live-in girlfriend and then tried to kill himself by plowing his Toyota 4Runner into a utility pole at high speed. Witnesses pulled the man out of the burning SUV and he was transported to a hospital with multiple injuries. Meanwhile the woman was provided first aid by a neighbor until paramedics arrived and she was flown to a trauma center. Both the suspected perpetrator and the victim are in critical condition. Their names are not available. The crash knocked out power to around 7,800 PG&E customers.
