Overall containment is only 10% for the 34 fires in the Butte Lightning Complex, but 21 are in patrol status. The remaining fires are in remote areas with heavy fuels. Many evacuation orders have been lifted. The Potters Fire northeast of Oroville is more than 1000 acres with 50% containment.
The many fires sparked by lightning in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest have been relatively small so far, with the largest reported being the 40 acre Spring Fire near Deer Lick Springs.
The Loyalton Fire, sparked by lightning last Friday on the Plumas/Sierra County line, has slowed considerably. It’s more than 46,000 acres with 60% containment.
The Red Salmon Complex in the Trinity Alps Wilderness now totals 16,485 acres with 39% overall containment. The fires are burning about 14 miles northeast of Willow Creek.
