Mask Price Gouging Tips Lead To Arrest In Red Bluff

A Red Bluff man has been arrested for price gouging following a 3-and-a-half month investigation by the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office. Following complaints about the price of N95 masks, DA investigators served a search warrant March 31st at Amazing Finds on Cedar Street in Red Bluff. About a thousand masks were seized, along with business records showing that prior to the governor’s state of emergency declaration, the masks were priced at around the national average. After the declaration, the price was apparently increased by around 400%. Any increase of more than 10% during a state of emergency is considered gouging. On Friday, 59-year-old Rene Umali was booked into jail on $3000 bail
