Hoopa Valley Tribe Takes Lead On Fighting Lightning Sparked Blazes

A fire in the Trinity Alps has grown. The Red Salmon Complex had included 3 fires but responsibility for one of them has been transferred to the Hoopa Valley Tribe. The other two fires now totaling 10,209 acres with 34% overall containment. The fires are burning in the Trinity Alps Wilderness at the confluence of the Six Rivers, Shasta-Trinity and Klamath National Forests. Federal firefighters continue to use minimum suppression tactics to avoid permanently damaging natural and cultural resources.
