A lot of resources were sent to a fire in the West Valley Area west of Cottonwood. It was reported about 4:45PM Thursday afternoon off Gas Point Road and Black Pine Road. Cal-Fire/Shasta County Fire crews were challenged by a lot of spot fires, extremely dense vegetation and steep landscape as the fire jumped Cottonwood Creek. Forward progress was stopped Thursday night at around 20 acres. At last word the “Pine Fire”, as it’s called, was 50% contained. The cause is under investigation.
