A 15-year-old girl died in a head-on collision in Trinity County Monday. Just after 9AM the unidentified teenager from Modoc County was driving a 2003 Chevy pickup eastbound on Highway 299 just west of Indian Creek Lodge in the Douglas City area. She was driving at high speed and pulled into the westbound side of the road to a pass a big rig, but 69-year-old Jimmy Easley of Texas was approaching the other way in a 2015 Chevy pickup and the two smashed head-on into each other. The impact launched the teenage driver’s pickup into the air and it hit the side of the semi trailer. The 15-year-old died of her injuries, while the other driver had only minor complaints of pain. The CHP is still investigating the crash.
