Man Released From Prison Early Arrested After Fatal High Speed Chase

A man who led Red Bluff Police on a chase Saturday, during which a man died, was supposed to still be in prison. A little before 7PM Saturday night, officers tried to make a traffic stop on Walnut Street but the driver led them on a pursuit. At one point the passenger, 38-year-old David Alan Lee Jr. of Red Bluff, tried to jump from the moving vehicle and was run over by the rear wheel. Lee’s injuries were fatal. The chase ended on Paskenta Road where the driver, 40-year-old Brian Son, fled on foot into a detached garage where he had been living. Officers say they found several stolen guns inside the garage, as well as Jeremy Swain and Pedro Avila, who were both arrested for obstruction. Son was set for release from prison on December 24th of this year but was instead released July 14th because of the Coronavirus scare.
